StageHand is going dashboard-first

For server staff and community leads · July 2026

We’re simplifying StageHand’s Discord slash commands. Server setup and most configuration now live in the StageHand dashboard. Discord stays for the things you do in the moment — opening a scene, claiming a quest, rolling dice, posting a panel, helping a member verify.

What’s changing

Over the next releases, slash commands that only configure your server (channels, presets, schedules, formulas, and similar settings) will be deprecated, then removed.

When you run a deprecated setup command, StageHand will point you to the matching dashboard section instead. After a transition period, those commands disappear from Discord’s command list.

Nothing about day-to-day play goes away. Members and staff still use Discord for live actions.

As part of this effort, we will also be adding first-time user experiences to the dashboard to better guide users on how each module should be used and set up, as well as constantly working on our docs and improving our processes.

Existing lore carousels posted in channels still work. Use the Admin menu on the message, /lore restore, or refresh from the dashboard if buttons need a refresh.

Some publish helpers (for example /ticket panel, /dice post, honeypot bait) may move fully into the dashboard later. Until then they still work; prefer the dashboard when you see a Post / refresh button there.

When will this happen?

We will start a slow deprecation of commands with the plan and idea to fully have our dashboard-first method in place for stagehand 1.16.0. Again, this should not affect anyone's day-to-day usage as many of the commands that were getting removed were overwhelming and people defaulted to using the dashboard anyway, so this is just to simplify the first-hand user experience.
